Ark Jarabacoa
Residential program
The Ark Jarabacoa began in the late 1980’s prior to Kids Alive arriving to the Dominican Republic. It became a Kids Alive ministry in the mid-1990’s and was relocated to a larger and permanent property. The Ark has grown to have a capacity of six family style homes and 48 children and youth.
Youth arrive here in protective custody from situations of extreme neglect, trauma, and abuse. Restoration and transformation begin immediately as children are showered with examples of God’s loving provision. Multidisciplinary teams work to meet immediate needs and build in capacity, resilience, and hope.

Current Ways to Pray
-
In March, we launched a campaign to recruit new house parents for each of our residential programs. Join us in earnestly praying for God to raise up faith-filled, energetic Christian couples to serve, and for God to prepare their hearts for the work set before them.
-
After hiring additional house parents, we plan to open additional homes across each residential campus — opening capacity to house 6-8 more vulnerable children per site.
-
Pray for effective social work support for the youth currently in transition from our residential programs into living independently.
-
Pray for continued financial partnership to support the costs of effective and efficient ministry in our residential programs.
-
Student Champions – Pray for provision of sponsors for the 22 students still waiting to be matched with a Student Champion, so each child receives encouragement and support.
