National Science Fair

Last week, Eva May Russell School sent a team of 6th and 7th grade students to participate in the Fourth Annual National Science Fair hosted by the Dominican Republic Ministry of Education: Energy and Mines.

With nearly 2,000 attendees at the event, Eva Russell students presented an intricate model and presentation on the use of renewable energy through hydroelectric power stations. The fair was held at the Renewable Energy Theme Park in Santo Domingo.

Eva Russell was one of 20 schools represented from across the country.

Hydroelectric Power Stations

The team explored how hydroelectric plants use the movement of water to generate electricity. With hand-made models of dams, they demonstrated how clean energy can be created from river flow and elevation changes. Their presentation focused on how hydroelectricity is one of the most reliable renewable energy sources in the world.

We are so proud of these students and teachers for their hard work and dedication, representing Vida Para Niños at this annual event!
