Meet the Director: Debora Prenza
For more than 30 years, Debora Prenza has faithfully served at Eva M. Russell School in Monte Plata.
As the daughter of school founders Juana and Ramón Prenza, Debora’s connection to the ministry runs deep—she’s been part of its story since childhood. She began working in sponsorship support as a teen in 1993, later teaching English and French, and by 2008 stepped into her current role as school director.
“Debora is a great school director and an inspiring person,” shares Vic Trautwein, Co-Country Director for Kids Alive DR. “Though she’s spent her life in Monte Plata—one of the country’s most underserved provinces—she speaks four languages and has become a transformational leader.”
Her dedication and skills have earned her recognition from both the Dominican Ministry of Education and the Association of Christian Schools International.
Though no longer teaching in the classroom each day, Debora remains deeply connected to the students and families of Eva Russell School. Her leadership is marked by compassion, advocacy, and unwavering faith. An active presence in the community, Debora regularly engages with local government leaders to advocate for the community that the school serves—a population that largely otherwise goes unseen and unheard.
Debora leading devotion and prayer at the daily flag ceremony
Inspired by the biblical figure David, Debora values authenticity, gratitude, and wholehearted faith. She states that she is deeply honored to serve God by serving children—and she is quick to point out that this work is only possible through the generosity of others. When asked with whom she would share a cup of coffee, she said, “I would sit a with each donor and thank them. Their generosity makes this mission possible—changing lives for eternity.”
Through her faithful leadership, Debora continues to guide the next generation of students toward academic success, spiritual growth, and lives rooted in God’s love.
We praise God for His work in and through Debora.
Join us in praying as she continues to faithfully lead and serve the students and staff at Eva Russell School.
