Meet the Director: Alberto

It is difficult to imagine Kids Alive’s school in Caraballo without thinking of Alberto.

In 2005, he became the very first employee at Park when Kids Alive opened as a small care center to serve a deeply disenfranchised community of mostly Haitian immigrant children. What began as a program for 30 kids in the community has grown—through God’s provision—into a government-recognized holistic care school serving 300 students.

Alberto and his wife, Lidia

Alberto often reflects that the first life transformed by the project was his own. Over the last 20 years, his perseverance, patience, and deep faith in God have marked his ministry. Together with his wife Lidia, Alberto has faced many challenges, including the realities of serving in a community plagued by under-education, malnutrition, violence, and discrimination.

Co-Country Director Victor Trautwein shares, “Alberto and his wife Lydia have sacrificed many things to serve God in the difficult community of Caraballo. Dominicans who help in this community are sometimes ostracized, but they have persevered and truly reflected God’s abundant and selfless love for over two decades.”

We praise God for His work in and through Alberto.

Join us in praying as he continues to faithfully lead and serve the students and staff at Park School Caraballo.
