Changed Life Story: Melany

In 2019, at eight years old, Melany* began attending Colegio Cristiano Río en el Desierto. From early in her experience at Constanza School, she found an environment of love and security that contrasted with the difficulties she faced at home.

Over the years, the school became a refuge where she was cared for, valued, and nurtured both academically and spiritually.

Melany’s story is marked by great challenges. Coming from a vulnerable family, her childhood was filled with mistreatment and economic hardship. Her father, a truck driver struggling with alcoholism, was much older than her mother, and their relationship was plagued by domestic violence and abuse. The situation became unsustainable, and her parents separated when she was just seven years old. Seeking an escape, her mother found support at the school, volunteering in the kitchen and cleaning. The school became a place of refuge, providing Melany’s mother with food, safety, and dedicated support. Ultimately, the staff at Constanza School introduced her mother to Jesus.

Melany’s healing process was not immediate, but the love and support she received at Constanza School made all the difference. In third grade, while still dealing with the emotional impact of abuse, she began to discover a path of hope. Her mother had been led to Christ through the school community, and over time, her older brother also embraced faith.

When faced with the immense difficulties of her life, Melany herself decided to give her life to Jesus, realizing that the only hope to be found within those situations was to draw closer to God.

Today, Melany’s mother has a stable job and is building her own home. All three of Melany’s family members connected with Constanza School have a personal relationship with Christ, attending and serving regularly in the church.

Melany herself is a living testimony of endurance and perseverance. She has become a dedicated student, excelling in academic competitions and gaining public speaking abilities through the Life Skills class, where she had the opportunity to present to her classmates all that she had learned. Melany has also grown to become a talented dancer and had an opportunity to showcase her remarkable talent in a performance. Her brother, also a student at Constanza School, serves in church by playing electric guitar. Melany’s commitment to the church is unwavering, and her heart is full of gratitude. She has expressed deep appreciation for the school—not only for the lessons in friendship and teamwork but, above all, for the way her school community has shown her love and led her whole family to Christ.
