SDN: Staff Kick-Off

In August, the Santo Domingo North team gathered for their annual school-year kickoff—an afternoon of worship, encouragement, and preparation for the year ahead.

The time began with a devotional led by Juan, the school’s director, who reminded the staff of the eternal impact of their daily work and the importance of seeking God’s strength together as a team. His words set the tone for the gathering, grounding the group in their shared mission.

The day also included messages from national ministry leaders, updates on new policies, and lighthearted team-building activities like the “human knot,” which brought both laughter and lessons about collaboration.

And, of course, the time closed with the much-anticipated “RIFA” (raffle)!

Santo Domingo North is located in one of the most challenged barrios in the capital—a community where children face obstacles of poverty, violence, and limited opportunities.

Yet, year after year, God has called a dedicated team to serve here with faithfulness.

Many staff members have given decades of their lives to this ministry, persevering through hardship and rejoicing in the transformation they’ve witnessed in countless students and families.

Their testimonies reflect this deep commitment. One teacher shared,

“The name of Christ is proclaimed; true and real love is given to the children… space is given so that if someone has a spiritual need, they can come, share it, and be supported.” Another added, “We work with love, not disdain. Only the love of God in us can be reflected outward to the children.”

As the new school year begins, the Santo Domingo North team stands renewed in their calling. Their decades of faithful service in one of the city’s most difficult neighborhoods remind us that the love of Christ is stronger than any challenge.

With compassion, excellence, and faith, they are once again ready to guide students toward the cross of Christ and the hope of transformed lives.

Join us in praying for this incredible staff!
