Celebrating International Women’s Day

Park School in Caraballo organized a performance honoring women in Dominican Republic history and celebrated the values of being a woman.

Some of our students performed a choreographed dance representing how women band together and lift each other up.

The girls in the kindergarten class dressed up as the most significant women in Dominican Republic history, like the three Mirabal sisters known for their opposition to the destructive dictatorship of Trujillo in the 1950s. The students presented the accomplishments of each historical female figure represented.

Other classes presented acrostics and speeches about women's rights, while others dressed up as women in various career fields - doctors, flight attendants, teachers.

We emphasized the importance and value women bring to many career fields and the impact they can have on history and culture.

In a country that can undervalue the role and value of women, our schools seek to show each student that they are valued and valuable, no matter where they come from, because they are known and loved by their Creator.
